Plant Description
The raw material is first of all conveyed by means of a rugged, low-maintenance apron feeder in a continuous flow to the pre-screening section where a double-decker eccentric screen with a particularly high screening efficiency is in operation. The material is screened off at 0 – 8 mm, and this fraction can be conveyed to a temporary storage hopper or re-united with the product downstream of the crusher similar to the 8 – 40 mm fraction, which also bypasses the crusher. The oversize from the pre-screening section then passes to the crusher, the latest version of Impactor Type APPH 1315 Q, which is characterised by its efficiency, minimum maintenance requirement and its ability to generate a product of consistently high quality.
The rubble recycling plant operated by the Swiss company Gebr. Schneider AG in Volketswil comprises a crushing section with two pre-screening units, as well as three classifiers with light fraction separation, so that the products generated are of particularly high quality. The process flow sheet is shown on the back page of this job report.
The downstream vibro chute transfers the crushed material 0 – 40 (x) mm onto a belt conveyor, at the head of which is located an over-belt magnet which separates all ferrous inclusions. For optimum effect, the magnet separator is arranged in the direction of conveyance.
For the production of the individual granulometries, there are two double-decker screens operating in conjunction with impact separators, also known as screening classifiers. The screen overflow material is passed to the impact separators, in which any light material is caught by a flow of air and transported onto a rotating drum, which in turn directs it onto a belt conveyor. The heavier inert material, such as concrete or stones, strikes the drum and is deflectted onto another belt conveyor. The parameters can be varied according to the characteristics and composition of the feed material.
The three impact separators remove light materials, such as paper, polystyrene and wood, etc. from the fractions >63 mm, 32 – 63 mm and 16/32 mm. The cleaned oversize >63 mm is returned to the impactor.
The various products are conveyed via belt conveyor to a number of storage compartments (20,000 mm³ storage capacity). The product discharge into the compartments is effected by automated moveable belt (material drop height to floor level is 14 m).
As already stated, the plant is characterised by a high degree of flexibility, and product generation can be varied accordingly to meet changed demands. Thanks to the plant control system with visual display, easy and flexible monitoring and control is possible via computer direct from the main control desk. A total of 27 belt conveyors with an overall length of 404 m are installed in the plant.
